Ole Timey Blue Collard

Description

This heirloom from Alabama dates back to at least the 1800’s. Seeds we donated to the Seed Savers Exchange in 1989 by Ralph Blackwell. In the donation letter, Ralph talks about how his family has grown this variety for over a hundred years and that his mother used it to make a dish similar to sauerkraut, using the sweet and tender leaves. Plants grow to 2′ tall. Has unique blue-greenish leaves with purple veins. Matures in 60-80 days.
