Poppy – Hungarian Blue Breadseed

An annual likely native to the Mediterranean, but has now been naturalized all over the world. Plants grow 2-3′ tall and produce beautiful purplish-blue flowers. Not only is it a stunning ornamental, at the end of the season, you can harvest the dried seed pods, for a bountiful harvest of poppy seeds, to be use for baking or cooking. Beware however, as all parts of this plant are toxic, except for the seeds.
