Common purple coneflower. The easiest echinacea to grow. Vigorous plants with large, purple-petaled flowers. Fibrous roots are easy to harvest (other species have taproots). Attracts to pollinators and a food source for bees. Blooms heavily from July through September. Will tolerate clay soils. Plants reach 3-4' tall. Perennial.
