Introduced in 1944 by the renowned California plant breeder Albert Etter, Pink Pearl was test seedling #39 of ‘Surprise’, another pink-fleshed apple that is believed to be a descendant of Malus niedzwetskyana. Harvested in August to mid-September and has a short storage life.

Produces a unique pink fleshed apple with pearly yellow skin that has a light pink blush. Not simply for show, Pink Pearl is also a great tasting apple; crisp, firm, slightly tart yet nice and sweet. A good fresh eating apple, but also great baked. Because it holds its color when cooked, Pink Pearl is perfect for showcasing its vivid color. Great for cooking, ciders, sauces, pies, tarts and other desserts.

An attractive, versatile and tasty apple.
