Perennial All parts of sassafras plants, including roots, stems, twig leaves, bark, flowers, and fruit, have been used for culinary, medicinal, and aromatic purposes. A native tree with picturesque branching habit and fragrant irregular leaves. Brilliant orange to scarlet autumn color. Excellent for naturalized plantings, or residential landscaping. Prefers a loamy, acid, moist but well drained soil.
